As
the planet of receptivity, the Moon also shows what we're afraid of receiving,
our walls. Much of our suffering in life is in trying to protect ourself from
things we are afraid to receive. The things we received that were painful
compelled us to develop protective strategies -- around those strategies the ego
has formed. A healthy ego is important for having realistic boundaries and
confidence in meeting life's challenges, the ego protects us. Yet these
protective strategies are the source of our limiting mental concepts, (Mars)
limited boundaries (Saturn) and illusions (Rahu / Ketu). Much of our adult life
is learning to dismantle the protective boundaries and coping strategies of our
childhood.

Spiritual Assessment Reading (example)
In this assessment I'll be looking primarily at the three self factors and what
condition them toward a spiritual path.
The three self factors are:
the lagna lord (shows our basic self-_expression and path in life)
atma karaka (literally " soul indicator")
the Sun (the natural atma karaka)
Also I will check the first house -- influences to the lagna lord -- the ninth
lord and Jupiter -- as well as the nodes -- and the nakshatra dispositors. These
factors are most important in assessing what spiritual path each native will be
drawn toward. These factors will be assessed in the Rasi chart (birth chart) as
well as the navamsa chart.
Mercury
Sun
Sun
The ruling planet, Mercury is in its own sign, Gemini with the ninth lord, Venus
and Mars. This powerful ruling planet, joined the ninth lord will be the mindset
for philosophies and teachings, religion, etc. in the sign of Gemini this will
make you test all of your beliefs, putting them to the test not just excepting
them blindly. Mercury rules the buddhi, the intellect and it's important for you
to rationally understand the spiritual practices, why they work, etc. this makes
you gravitate naturally toward the path of jnana Yoga, the Yoga of the
intellect. However the presence of Mars also strongly indicates a passion for a
more physical path, related to Raja Yoga. Especially as this sign of Gemini
Falls in the 10th house of action. Thus there are many aspirations to impact the
world through these multifarious paths of Yoga and other modalities like
astrology. The aspect from Jupiter, as well as both of these planets being in
their own signs, and forming a powerful Saraswati Yoga, shows the interest and
desire to help others through Astrology and other Vedic teachings. Guru in your
fourth house, retrograde shows and ease of introspection, and a desire to merge
with guru in your own heart. You can feel the presence of guru deep within your
heart -- very nice!
The Sun is a double atma karaka for you and thus very powerful in your
liberation. The Sun is in your ninth house with saturn and the Moon. Very
powerful conjunction of spiritualizing factors. Particular the Sun and Moon are
tightly conjoined in the nakshatra of Mrigashira, Mercury is also Mrigashira --
declaring this nakshatra of prime importance, as it rules your three main
spiritualizing factors. Mrigashira is related to the quest for idyllic beauty
and brings a certain restless nature to that quest. There is also an innocence
and naïveté, and courage in spite of what our more experienced nature may be
telling us. This naïveté an innocence gets us and our soul through life's ups
and downs, rather than becoming embittered by our disappointments. I mention the
specifically because of the presence of Saturn in this ninth house, and
especially tightly conjoined the Moon, the dark Moon. Particularly as Saturn is
the sixth lord, it reveals the work and effort necessary to maintain
self-confidence and a healthy mental/emotional outlook from day-to-day. Yet
Saturn / Sun also makes one a great servant of humanity, especially as Saturn is
the sixth lord. In the sign of Taurus there will be a powerful need to serve in
tangible ways, with your physical body in real time, not just in your mind as
may be the case with all those planets in Gemini.
In the navamsa chart, Mars is in a trinal aspect with your atma karaka, the Sun,
who is in Virgo. This shows the ability to thrive and excel in Raja yoga or
other physical disciplines like tai chi -- or energetic paths like Reiki.
Staying disciplined and managing Mars energy, which includes anger and excessive
opinions will be important to your spiritual path. The above suggestions are
ways to channel Mars energy creatively. This atma karaka and Mars both in earth
signs shows that staying grounded in tangible, worldly activities is the path to
this management. Things like gardening, massage, cooking and feeding people,
hands-on earthy things are also important. The atma karaka is aspected by Saturn
as well, who is the lagna lord and 12th lord in this navamsa chart, and resides
in the sign of Gemini. This shows the confluence and similarity to the rasi
chart, affirming the importance of discrimination and in jnana Yoga to your life
path, as well as the capacity to flourish through them.
To summarize: There aretendencies for the Yoga of synthesis in your chart, which
include Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, jnana Yoga. Breathing exercises
could be especially important as they are related to Gemini, and air sign, and
its lord Mercury. Also Saturn is related to the breath and his influence over
the Sun and Moon could be inhibiting. Swami Sivananda and Swami Satchitanda of
integral Yoga are two very interesting paths you may explore. Both advocate the
idea of combining the four paths of Yoga everyday. Of course this is also
discussed in the Bhagavad Gita by Lord Krishna, yet these great yogis created
great systems through which to guide our daily life based on the same
principles.
Saying mantras to your beloved deities, whether they be figures or forces such
as the planets or even affirmations that you create will be very important as
the sign of Gemini is related to speech and self-_expression through words.
ponder this.
Sign: Your Moon is in the sign of Cancer, ruled by the Moon. The shows a developing psychology which revolves around nourishment and feeding others. You'll be involved in situations and relationships where you capacity to nourish and nurture others is tested. You're ever aware of a sense of lack in your ability to nourish and provide -- this keeps you in search of situations where you may find the true source nourishment, your own heart. the Moon in the sign of Cancer is ever changeable and prone to a fickle nature. Intense moods may undermine a consistent mental outlook. This very impressionable nature will be hard for relationship partners to understand, and hard for you to understand as well. You may be innately aware that from day-to-day you have no idea how you're going to feel. Over time this will teach you to acccept yourself on your own terms and embrace the beauty and creative nature ordained by the lord of Cancer, the Moon. For this changeable nature is also one of intense creativity and adaptability. It gives you the capacity to fulfill your psychological destiny as one who nurtures all -- for you have the flexibility and openness to love all. Proper boundaries are very important however as your impressionable nature and potentially turbulent emotions lie just below the surface once you become engaged. Remaining open to the creative flow of life, without losing yourself in it, is the main psychological lesson of the Moon in Cancer.
House: Your Moon is in the 12 House. The 12 House shows much of this developing psychology of nourishment and sustenance must be worked through in isolation -- meditation and introspection will be very important. Through this introspection and meditation as well as in your dreams, the real source of love and connection will be revealed. This placement also shows a tendency to gravitate toward foreign teachings and influences not native to your culture -- and perhaps foreign partners. The Moon in a dusthana, especially in its own sign of Cancer, will present some challenges as their indications tend to get taken from our life or have certain inconsistent nature to them. The 12 House is one of apathy and letting go of a certain worldly quality of any planets that reside there. In this case you may be also letting go of worldly quality of nurturing. Rather than necessarily wanting to nurture and nourish people, the transcendent and internal quality of motherhood and divine sustenance may at times undermine your association with people in your life who are dependent upon you to nourish and nurture them. Once you actually become responsible for nourishing or nurturing someone, as in a relationship, your commitment to this course of action may waver -- there may be much doubt about your ability to stand firm and stay consistent in such situations. You may question your worldly commitments to partners as much as you seen attached to them. There may be simultaneous attachment and doubt to loved ones.
Moon Yogas | Aspects | Condition | Supporting Planets : The Moon is joined Venus, yet is quite dark, and in closest proximity to the planet Mercury. When the Moon is this dark there can be ungrounded feeling and a sense of dissatisfaction with a core sense of self and feeling nature. This will compel you to anchor your identity upon the attributes of the closest planets. In this case Mercury and Venus. In times of personal crisis, and just in general in order to support your psychology, there will be a major emphasis put on communication (through speaking) gathering information and developing new skills or trying new things. These are the attributes of Mercury. You must be careful not to be seduced by novelty and trivia and simply gather information without digesting it properly. Also the qualities of Venus will be very prominent in helping to ground your psychology. Sensual pleasure, social situations, surrounding yourself with beauty and "good things" (not bad things), giving pleasure to others are all qualities of Venus joined the Moon. In the case of a planet joined the Moon, these qualities become inextricably joined your mental outlook. Thus there's a deep conditioning toward having those things in your life at all times or else there will be suffering because do to their absence. When you find yourself in situations where these Venus attributes cannot be procured there will be dissatisfaction -- and the dark Moon ungroundedness, loss of self is revealed. The positive side of a Venus/Moon conjunction is obvious. You will be very accommodating and sociable and willing to please others and make them happy (sometimes at the expense of your happiness). In relationships you will be very much a peacemaker, yet with his Moon being so dark and Venus providing such support, you must be careful about clinging to situations simply in order to feel connected to something. When the Moon is this dark, there can be fear of being alone.
Planets that rise before the Moon will act as a filter to what we receive. Saturn rising before the Moon will help establish good boundaries for you. A reasonable and practical cautionary nature will inform what you let into your heart. Saturn is the planet of the deep in basic truths and life, honoring our limitations, taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions, slowing us down. Yet Saturn rising before the Moon can also condition the mind towards a bit of pessimism. However in your case, Saturn is in Gemini where he's lighthearted and infused with a sense of humor -- and quite an irreverent, quirky one at that. His structure provides balance to this dark Moon joined Venus, I see this less as pessimism and more as realism -- as you need a little of this Saturn influence to help ground you!
Planets that rise after the Moon will allow us to integrate experiences into our heart. You have Mercury Mars after the Moon. Mercury shows a desire to verbally process what you experience. You must speak your truths otherwise there will be great suffering. Especially in intimate relationships. You must feel free to speak and give voice to your hearts desire, or they will be very hard for you. You gravitate toward all forms of meaningful communication techniques. You also gravitate toward writing and creative projects as ways to express your love. Giving little gives to loved ones, making them yourself, these are all meaningful ways that you integrate the love experience into your life. Mars also rises after your Moon which shows quite a fiery nature and a paradigm of principles based on the power of love, connection and unity. Mars will show from where our strength derives. Mars rising after your Moon shows much strength is derived from courageously integrating the sometimes difficult and painful lessons of nourishment and nurturing others you learn the through this 12 House Moon in Cancer. However Mars at times can make for a very willful and unpredictable nature when things are difficult. The tendency to break something or destroy something in order to integrate painful lessons may be present as well. Mars is the planet who breaks things. Thus you may break something in order to make room for the process of emotional integration.

Relationship Assessment Reading (example)This assessment will focus on your relationships and how to maximize your stengths, reduce weaknesses and make better relationship choices. It will focus on:
The Moon
Seventh house lord
Seventh house
Venus
The Moon
in your chart is joined Mercury in the sign of Capricorn. The Moon joined
Mercury shows a tendency to a bit of emotional restlessness and anxiety. You
tend to overanalyze your emotions and not trust the depth of your feelings as a
result. The Moon in Capricorn however shows a strong and solid emotional core
underneath it all -- there's a powerful and steadfast nature in your heart. As a
Libra, the Moon in Capricorn Falls in the fourth house, adding strength and a
powerful reflective nature. Saturn is on the first angle from your Moon which
shows a tendency to want to control your feelings and the desire to be alone in
order to process them. Yet Saturn in an angle from the Moon also shows loyalty
and the desire to work on a relationship once your emotions are engaged. He also
have Jupiter in the 10th angle from the Moon, this shows a lot of emotional
honesty and truth as well as optimism and belief that things will get better
over time.
The
seventh house lord in your chart is Mars, he is in the fifth house with rahu.
The seventh lord in the fifth house shows a tendency for your individual
personal interests to take you away from relationships at times. It may be more
important for you to evolve creatively and personally rather than undergo the
training and compromise necessary in relationships. As a Libra, the fifth house
Mars resides in Aquarius -- the sign of large groups of people. You may view
your relationship with society in general as more important than your personal,
romantic relationship. The presence of rahu, the North Node with your seventh
house lord makes for an erratic influence. You'll attract unusual and difficult
partners, they may be foreign and/or very confusing. This confusion is to ensure
you will experience firsthand how frustrating it is to compromise with difficult
partners. You will be pushed to the limits of compromise with these unusual
partners.
The
seventh house in your chart contains Saturn. As a Libran, Saturn is a powerful
planet for you, ruling the fourth and fifth houses. However, Saturn is
debilitated in the sign of Aries. This shows you may wind up with very serious
or older partners and/or partners who force you to be alone in some way. Saturn
in the seventh house that you are loyal, serious and committed in your
partnerships, but also hesitant to start them -- for you know, once you start
the relationship you are in its for the long haul. Saturn is exchanging with the
seventh lord Mars, who is joined rahu -- showing the erratic partners I
mentioned above. Erratic partnerships teach you to relax and grow in isolation,
they also teach you to make a strong decision and live with the consequences.
Venus in
your chart is in the third house, exchanging with Jupiter. As a Libra your very
conditioned to be in relationships, not just romantic but with people in
general. Venus is combust in your chart, which means it's very close to the Sun.
When Venus is combust we may have a hard time feeling appreciated by other
people -- this is powerfully revealed in our relationships. You may do things to
get attention in order to feel appreciated -- when the expected appreciation
does not come forth however, you may get angry. Realize this very sensitive
nature is within you and try to be more objective, realizing that your partners
probably appreciate you more than you realize. Venus in the third house with Sun
will make for a strong sexual drive -- sex will be very important to you in
relationships, perhaps too important at times. Being less driven to have your
own needs met and cultivating more service and devotion and love for your
partner will allow for a greater compromise to unfold.
To
summarize: you have very powerful individual nature which may make it difficult
for you to compromise in relationships. You need a partner who is equally
individual and not dependent upon you. However, you must be careful with
choosing erratic an unpredictable partners, simply because of the excitement and
stimulation. Over time, with a strong and independent and considerate partner
you will be able to grow in devotion and surrender, deepening a bond of love and
trust.
Look for those with a powerful Gemini, Taurus, Capricorn and Aquarius influence.
